Define the weld to be produced and how it will be accepted before selecting equipment. The appearance of a similar cell or the robot brand does not establish suitability for a particular part and process.
- Part drawings, material, thickness, joint design, seam locations and sample availability.
- Weld quality requirements, inspection methods, and permitted appearance and distortion.
- Target output, shifts, loading method, changeover frequency, available space and site location.
Validate the process and define integration scope
Use sample trials and process assessment to review fixture location, robot access, welding-head clearance, loading and equipment interfaces. Existing robots, laser sources or fixtures need model, condition and configuration checks before reuse is confirmed.
Define equipment and site responsibilities
The quotation should define supply of the robot, laser equipment, fixtures, positioners, controls, guarding and related auxiliaries, together with mechanical, electrical, software-interface and commissioning work. Remote design discussions and on-site installation and validation are planned separately. Overseas arrangements depend on location, site conditions and schedule.
Make acceptance results verifiable
Agree sample revisions, material conditions, trial quantities, weld inspection methods and cycle-time measurement boundaries during the design stage. Acceptance records should state the actual test conditions and distinguish output targets from measured results.
- Agree handover documents such as configuration lists, relevant drawings, program backups, operating and maintenance information, and trial records.
- Include customer-supplied parts, site utilities and inspection resources in the plan, with a process for resolving outstanding actions.

Can I request a quotation with only part drawings?
Drawings can support an initial discussion. Include material, joint design, quality requirements, target output and site location. Final configuration and process commitments may require sample trials and confirmation of operating conditions.
Can existing robots and laser equipment be reused?
Review models, condition, software, interfaces and process suitability before defining reuse or modification. Provide nameplates, configurations and current operating information; brand names alone do not establish compatibility.
How should I compare cell proposals?
Use the same parts, quality criteria, output targets and acceptance conditions. Compare equipment lists, customer responsibilities, sample trials, interface ownership and handover documents. Assess price alongside the engineering scope actually included.
